Snapshot Workshop

See what’s possible with photovoice.

Let’s do the work instead of just talking about it. Let’s share photos and tell stories about meaningful experiences. Let’s engage our differences with genuine curiosity. And let us show you what’s possible.

Our Topics

Every workshop is an invitation to something more than learning about our approach. We want you to experience the power of gratitude, hope, and beauty. Along the way, you’ll learn about our approach.

Gratitude

Focusing on gratitude helps reframe one’s outlook, invites optimism, encourages positivity, and increases resilience. Research shows that people who reflect on what they are thankful for are less likely to experience burnout.

Hope

Practicing hope is good for promoting agency, increasing resilience, as well as for improving physical and mental health. There has also been research to show that increasing hope within groups (collective hope) increases the likelihood of creating desired systemic changes such as in addressing racism or other biases.

Beauty

Engagement with beauty contributes to pro-social behaviors, compassion, and overall happiness. Research also shows that the practice of the appreciation of and engagement with natural beauty is positively linked to both empathy and pro-environmental behaviors.

Past Participants

“My experience was marked by a lot of awe and wonder as I listened to those at my table share their lives through photographs. I sat with people I already knew but felt myself learn so much more about them. This workshop is a great practice in knowing people more deeply and seeking to see their world through their eyes (or their camera lens).”

— Lizzy Jensen, Assistant Coordinator for Interfaith Engagement at Utah Valley University

“Through Interfaith Photovoice’s framework of active listening and shared learning opportunities, I was able learn more about my students and my colleagues in one evening than I could after a whole semester.”
