Empower people to see through one another’s lenses and develop a shared vision for the common good.

“From very first session, I worked with passion to know deeply about other faiths, but I also got a chance to express my faith. During our discussion, I found it very helpful for understanding each other’s beliefs.”

An Invitation to See Differently

Our approach brings together people with different backgrounds to photograph and reflect on topics related to their faith in everyday life, the challenges they face, and what a better world looks like. Together they build understanding, empathy, and a shared sense of purpose through a series of facilitated conversations.

Over a series of several meetings, participants from different religious traditions discuss their photos and identify shared experiences, needs, and concerns. The photovoice process helps participants to develop understanding, nurture empathy, gain a sense of shared purpose across religious and cultural differences. Our methods raise awareness around an issue, create long-lasting change, challenge assumptions about a people group, and initiate and nourish fruitful relationships.

A photovoice project culminates in a public exhibition, during which participants can engage in conversations with community members, stakeholders, local leaders, the general public, and the press. In this way participants have an opportunity to speak to their local community through their photographs.

What is special about photovoice and makes it very unique is seeing through other people’s lenses—seeing through their eyes.
